Suggest Treatment For Severe Asthma And Bradycardia
Question: Years ago suddenly woke up with severe asthma feeling like my body had been attacked. Pulmonolgist could not be certain what the diagnosis was, brachial asthma, asthmatic bronchitis, and wanted to know if I had purchased new furniture, carpeting, et al. I had purchases a computer desk that came in a bag/box that had to be assembled. Shortly after that I was admitted to the hospital for bradycardia, a told I needed a pacemaker. I refused because I believed at the time the asthma and bradycardia were related. Was admitted and placed under oxygen for a number of days and the heart rate returned to normal with no problem for twenty years since. Survived only with massive doses of prednisone over the years from which the side effect has been osteoporosis. Last x-ray revealed interstitial markings, and as a retired RN am I correct in believing this may be a pre-curser to ILD.
Should I be concerned?
Should I be concerned?
Brief Answer:
ILD need to be ruled out
Detailed Answer:
Hello, Madam
I can certainly understand your concern
Considering your symptoms, it's advisable to get the following tests at the earliest to rule out interstitial lung disorders
At the same time it's advisable to screen the bradycardia for any rhythm related issues
Therefore I am advising the following tests.
1.24 HR holter ECG
2.HRCT chest
3.PFT's(pulmonary function test)
4.2D echo
Kindly get these tests at the earliest and update me with the test reports.
Further management if any is largely based on test results.
Post your further questions if any
Thank you.
