Question: I have hyperthyroidism and it has been many years and many compression fractures. it was recently diagnosed the hyprthyrodism but I continue to have severe pain In my back. I see a pain doctor and take narco for the pain but it is still there and my pain specialist thinks I am faking or over pain sensitive. does this new diagnose show him that the pain is real and the problem is real. I was in major car vs pedstrain accident in 2001 and most of my bones are held together already by titanium. I am in constent pain and the pain meds don't reuduce the pain as they should. is this diagnosis of hyper thyroid and progressive osteoporosis validate my issues.

Brief Answer:
Can be arthritis and osteoporosis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
After multiple injuries and compression fractures the bones are more likely to develop post traumatic arthritis and progressive osteoporosis and can cause a chronic pain. This can be the reason of your persistent pain. in addition to the pain killers that you are taking you need regular physiotherapy to maintain the tone and strength of your muscles.
I hope this answers your query.

when you say physiotherapy, I have lost most of my left hip muscle due to heterotopic ossification. also all my forarm bones were crushed and I can not even bear to throw a tennis ball for my dogs. when I say vehicale to pedestrian I mean a drunk driver drove through the building I was in and put a pool table crahing towards me and the pool table and I went through a XXXXXXX wall behind me. Some how I was still standing. my left leg was completely turned around and my right forarm was at a right angle. the pool table was still standing on its back legs closest to me and I used me elbows to drag myself atop the table and put my leg back in position and my right arm back into position not knowing that the other limbs were as badly damaged. I went through 12 surgeries and it took me a year just walk again. my hips have pins in the ball sockets and movability or range of motion is severly limited. I have tried to ride a stationary bike and it was to painful. I have tried swimming but the drag on my forarms and the pain in my hips becomes unbearable after a few minutes. I am lucky to have all my limbs and lucky not to be in a motorized chair. I can walk a couple of hundred yards, but I have to rest. I was on social security disability but went back to school and got my MBA. I am able to work because I work for the air force as a contract officer but they allow me to work in a reclined chair and with voice recognition software. What do you suggest I do to try to do to build strength. I am open to anything. that is the honest truth.

Brief Answer:
Only exercise and a good diet can help.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
With such multiple injuries you are lucky to have survived. The only way to build strength is a protein and calcium rich diet and gradual exercise- physiotherapy - that can be increased gradually depending on your muscle strength. You need to consult a good physiotherapist and continue with the pain killers as prescribed to you. For pain you can consult a neurologist and get pregabalin like medicines prescribed to deal with the nerve related pain.
Hope my answer is helpful.

I have two questions for you. After the first compression fractures witch were T6,7,8 I found out I had hepatitis C. no drug use or history to ever have produced the disease. the blood donations I was given back then were screed for the disease. they ended on blaming it on the bone paste they used with my crushed bones as the only way I could have contracted it. I started noticing I was seating for no reason. that is why they tested for it. but the sweating got very bad and lasted around a year, where out of no where I would just start sweating for no reason in a cold room. The sweating all the sudden subsided and I no longer had hep C. I do not have the antibodies or the markers of the disease. could the hyperthyroid have worked with the liver to do this. no doctor I have spoke to knows why except genetics. got to give a little more. what are the possibilities here.

next question as you know the hyperthyroidism has obviously been with me for a while, but two years ago I was in a challenging negotiations class for air force contract officers. it felt like I learned so much each day my head was hurting when I would get home. but how can you learn to much to make your head hurt. the forth day of the class, my group went into another room two allow the other team to discuss our proposals. I started feeling as if I was burning up. my cheat hurt and I had a flushed feeling of nausea. my heart was palpitating I remember that. we were called back to the other room and I do not even remember sitting down. I woke up to medical personal all around me I had been seizing so hart for about 8 minutes they tell me but I pulled all of the muscles in my back. A little advise pain killers do not stop muscle pain. not morphine or dilouted. after I got out of the hospital and was still in a wheel chair I did some research and it was steroids that helped that pain. the real question is the hep c was gone and I have never had a seizure in my life nor did I have any other thing that the neurologist could find to explain the seizure. Could this have manifested from a thyroid storm?

Brief Answer:
Can be due to strong immune system.

Detailed Answer:
Hepatitis C can be cured spontaneously only due to a strong immune system. it is not related to hyperthyroidism.
The seizure that you had could be related to thyroid storm that can be aggravated by anxiety. The cause of such a symptom can best be explained by your treating doctor who examined you at that time.
Regards.
