Endocrinologist 's  Response
Hello,
I have gone carefully through your concern.
Smoking is considered a major risk factor for Grave'' disease. Combined with stress, they keep high the antibodies responsible for stimulating the thyroid gland to produce too much thyroid hormones.
If the overactive thyroid persists for more than
1.5 years than a deffinite treatment is suggested; surgical removal of the thyroid gland or radioactive iodine treatment.
It is very important to stop smoking and try to avoid stress.
Wish you good health.
Kind regards,
Dr.Mirjeta
