Question: Hi Doctor,

I am suffering with bacterial infection (Sinus). My primary doctor has given me Azythromycin 4 days back but my fever is still around 100 degrees. I am having severe headache (In forehead) similar to sinus pain along with congestion. Just wanted to check if i can take Advil (Cold and Sinus) and Mucinex medicine with Azythromycin or it can have any interactions? I am taking Tylenol with Azythromycin as of now.

Thanks,
XXXX

Brief Answer:
Yes,you can take Advil and Mucinex.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX thank you for posting your query on Health care magic.

Advil Cold & Sinus contains Ibuprofen 200 mg(it is an Analgesic and Anti-inflammatory) and Pseudoephedrine 30 mg( it is a Decongestant helping in relieving nasal blockage).

Mucinex contains Guaifenesin. It helps in breakdown of collected mucus secretion in sinuses and drainage of secretions.

You are taking Azithromycin (an Antibiotic) and Tylenol (Acetaminophan-it is an Antipyretic helpful in case of a fever).

You can definitely take Advil cold and sinus and Mucinex along with the medicines you are taking.

Other medicines like Antihistaminic (like Cetrizine), Saline nasal spray and Nasal decongestant drops (like Xylometazoline) would also help.

Also take an Antacid (like Rantac) as it would help against increased acid formation in stomach due to the use of Ibuprofen.

Also do steam inhalation.Drink plenty of fluids(warm) as they help in break down of secretions. Avoid dust, smoke and other pollutants. Avoid cold food.

Hope this answers your question. I would be happy to answer if you have any follow-up question. Get well soon.
