Suggest Treatment For Severe Bruising On Leg
Bruise leg normal course
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns
You developed a bruise last week and now the bruise is forming down the leg. This is to be expected. A bruise as you know is a collection of blood just under the skin. Since it is on your leg gravity then pulls on the blood and it migrates down the leg and sometime all the way to your foot. This is the natural course of a large bruise on a leg. This is nothing to worry about and is not a blood clot.
A blood clot in the vein or DVT is not seen on the skin. A DVT causes redness swelling and painful leg usually after flying or prolonged sitting or laying in bed. You do not have any of those symptoms therefore you do not have a blood clot.

7-10 days
Detailed Answer:
The bruise will probably take 7-10 days to resolve completely depending on how big the bruise on your upper thigh was. But usually about a week for the body to absorb the bruise.
no need ot elevate the leg
Detailed Answer:
Elevating the leg will not change the course of the bruise. If you are in pain you can use Tylenol or ibuprofen but only if you have pain. The pain killers will not change the course of bruise either.
