Suggest Treatment For Severe Cough And Tenderness On The Ribs
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Possibility of musculoskeletal pain is more.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, possibility of musculoskeletal pain is more.
But better to rule out lung related diseases (pleural effusion, lung infection etc) for your chest tenderness.
So if chest x ray is not done previously, get it done now.
Normal chest x ray rules out lung related causes for rib tenderness.
For rib tenderness, apply warm water pad 5-6 times a day. Avoid heavyweight lifting and strenuous exercise. Wear chest belt for minimal mobilization of affected ribs.
Don't worry, you will be alright with all these.
But better to first get done chest x ray.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

Since your chest x ray is clear, cough is subsided, no need to worry for lung diseases.
Musculoskeletal pain is more likely.
May I know how old is this x ray?

No need to worry for lung diseases.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Healthcare Magic.
So chest x ray was 1 month old.
So no need to worry for lung diseases.
Musculoskeletal pain is more likely.
So follow advice given in 1st answer.
Along with these, take combination of diclofenac and thiocolchicoside (muscle relaxant).
Don't worry, you will be alright with all these.

Hemoptysis should always be investigated.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
You are having hemoptysis (blood in sputum).
And repeated hemoptysis should always be investigated.
So at present, no need to worry much because you are having single episode of hemoptysis and your PFT is normal and your cough I also reduced.
But if you have hemoptysis again then chest x ray should be done first.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
