Suggest Treatment For Severe Cough, Body Aches And Fatigue

Question : Hi, I was diagnosed with acute URI UNSP SITE AND OTH MALAISE&Fatigue on 12/22. My original complaint was fever, chills, sore throat, headache made worse when I cough, semi productive cough, chills, body ache. I had been having headaches since around 12/18. I have been taking Benzonatate 100mg tid prn, Naproxen 500mg po p8h prn, Mucinex 600mg bid x 5 days
I still have the cough and it gives me a frontal headache, when I talk I heave and cough with head ache. Feel chills once in a while and took my temp at 4pm today it was 101.5. My throat is dry and this morning I was wheezing a little. I do have Rx for Zpack and medrol pack. Can I start taking them now.

I appreciate your concern

Based on your description, this does appear to be a respiratory tract infection and would require antibiotics. In severe cases a short course of steroids such as prednisolone is also sometimes added. If your doctor prescribed the azithromycin and Medrol pack then you can start them , right away.

Should I continue with the other mess I was taking prior to the zpack and medrol?

Mucinex can be continued.
Naproxen , only when there is pain or fever.
Benzonatate, only if the cough is bothersome
