Brief Answer:
Possibility of bronchitis is more.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, possibility of bronchitis is more.
Bronchitis is inflammation of airways.
So all your symptoms like cough, wheezing, mucus expectoration etc are classical symptoms of bronchitis.
So consult pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
PFT will not only diagnose bronchitis but it will also tell you about severity of the disease.
And treatment is based on severity only.
You will mostly need inhaled bronchodilators (formoterol or salmeterol) and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) (budesonide or fluticasone).
Don't worry, you will be alright.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

Sorry for late reply as I was busy.
I can have gone through the drug list.
This is strange that you are not taking any inhaler.
Best treatment for chronic bronchitis is inhaled bronchodilators (formoterol or salmeterol) and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) (budesonide or fluticasone).
So please let me know
1. Don't you prescribed any inhaler?
2. I forgot to ask about smoking history. Do you smoke?
Please reply me answers of above asked questions, so that I can guide you better. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

I'm on an albuterol inhaler and the doctor put me on prednisone 20mg for 5 days. She said it was a viral upper respiratory infection. I've also lost my appetite. which she said the prednisone should help with. I smoke about a pack a day. I'm seeing a therapist Thursday for the health anxiety.

Brief Answer:
Yes, viral infection can be the cause.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Yes, viral infection is the most common cause for acute worsening of underlying bronchitis.
And why you are still smoking?
You need to stop smoking immediately.
With continued smoking, recovery is almost impossible.
So please quit smoking immediately.
Albuterol is short acting beta 2 agonist (SABA). It's effect last for 4 hours only. It is better to take long acting beta 2 agonist (LABA) like formoterol or salmeterol and long acting antimuscarinic (LAMA) like tiotropium. Effect of these drugs last for 12 hours. So better symptomatic control can be achieved.
Oral N acetyl cystine (NAC) is also useful in your case.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
