I was woken last night with severe dizziness and REM even with my eyes open. I took migraleve for the anti sickness. I have rested all day in bed. Had 2 more episodes. Seems to be worse when lying down and move my head one side to the other. Can stand up not really a problem but do constantly feel woozy. Slight earache in right ear .
Brief Answer:
Seems to BPPV-Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo
Detailed Answer:
Hi.Welcome to HealthcareMagic and thanks for trusting us for your health related queries.
The above signs what you have shared with us suits to the provisional clinical diagnosis of BPPV.
Benign-as the technical word itself says its not dangerous,so dont have to worry much.
Paroxysmal-all of a sudden. As you told last night you woke because of severe dizziness, that the nature of this problem it happens all of a sudden.
Positional-this problem changes its severity with changes in direction of head.
Vertigo-dizziness.
Moreover, slight pain at right ear points towards problem arising from ear and mostly from right side.
well, the reason why this happens is that some sort of blockage would have occurred at the inner most part of ear(called as labyrinth). Many people are not aware that even ear helps in balancing the body, especially innermost ear, apart from brain.so when this gets blocked your body balance is altered and manifested as dizziness.
With this sort discussion you can try out my suggestions:-
1.visit a nearby ENT specialist for this issue.
2.Request the same specialist to have a look a BP and blood sugar, just to rule out is dizziness because of these two also.
3.Get an opinion from neurologist to be on safer side.
I hope this information would be helpful and useful to you.
Feel free to ask further queries.
Get well soon.
