Suggest Treatment For Severe Eye Dryness And Itching While On Steroid Drops
Question: I've been recovering from bacterial conjunctivitis and have been on steroid drops. I would either have watering eyes or itchy dry eyes and unfortunately I rubbed and rubbed them. It's been three weeks now and they still get dry and itchy. A scab has formed on the inner corner of my eye and I don't know what to do to treat it. It's a red flaky scab that I can feel and it itches. What can I put on it or do I just have to wait until it heals. I have bacitracin. What do I do because it's ugly and itchy and very red
Brief Answer:

I am Dr Saad Sultan and will be answering your query. I have read and understood your health concerns.
Do you have any associated problems like burning urination and joint pains? Any significant decrease in vision? Any pain in eye ball? Any other family member or friend suffering from it?
Kindly do send me the photographs of your eyes so that I can correlate properly.
Meanwhile stick to the medicines and avoid excessive rubbing.
Hope it helps

I have uploaded an image updated in my reports. Disregard my face redness. And the reason the scab looks greasy is because I put bacitracin on it. No problems with my vision and nobody else has it. I just couldn't stop rubbing my eyes because they were so dry and itchy and now that most of the issues are gone, this scab has formed about three days ago and the other eye feels like it's getting one. I still use the rx eye drops when this happens and don't know if that's good or bad
Brief Answer:
use artificial tears and continue with the treatment

I really appreciate your follow up.
As there is no visual blurring and pain in your eyes , it is quite assuring. You should not be worried about it.
It is conjunctivitis and you will fine in three days. Continue with your medicines and it is good to use artificial eye tears . apart from it, if I am your attending doctor I will prescribe you levocabastine eye drops . you have to use it two times daily and it decreases the itching.
Stay calm , wash your eyes with cold water. Avoid rubbing and use separate towel.
Hope it helps
If you have any query do ask me with my name being mentioned any time.
May you get well soon
