Suggest Treatment For Severe Headache Due To Steroid Injection
If due to STEROIDS the headache SHOULD resolve
Detailed Answer:
Good evening. It is interesting that either your were told or you believe that an injected steroid seems to be the cause of your headache since in many instances we use injectable steroids to actually treat headaches. If the injection is the cause then, perhaps some other element or ingredient in that injection could be causing the problem since injections always contain other things aside from the medication such as preservatives and other chemicals necessary to place in order to keep the medication viable.
You haven't said what sort of other symptoms you are having such as nausea, vomiting, light/sound/smells sensitivity. If this is definitely an isolated event and there are no other symptoms and no neurological problems such as speech/language difficulty, weakness, numbness, or tingling in the face, arm, or leg then, perhaps this is an isolated episode that will respond to a single high dose of either ibuprofen (Motrin) or acetaminophen (Tylenol Extra Strength).
Be sure you do not get into a tempting regimen of taking OTC medications every several hours or round the clock as some doctors may prescribe for something like this since the risk is that you may develop additional headache problems as a result of MEDICATION OVERUSE HEADACHE.
If this headache does not resolve then, I would recommend being seen specifically for the headache to decide whether or not you may need some type of testing or imaging of the brain.
