Suggest Treatment For Severe Injury On Finger
Question: one of the finger of my father's got cut during an accident(struck by a iron door), a couple of years ago..He was reluctant to do plastic surgery and lived with it ,bearing the pain. I feel that he is loosing the strong grip because of this..as he holds the finger away ..and I believe this was one of the cause of another accident he met a weeks ago(fell from bike). I'm attaching a few photos for the reference. could you please provide a suggestion on how to heal this? if plastic surgery is the only option..please guide on how to proceed. Thanks.
PS- I also feels that this incident that happened 2yrs ago, has brought down his confidence level and he confined to himself..thus appearing older that he should at his age which is 60.

Brief Answer:
Orthopedic assessment required
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query on HealthcareMagic.
The injury on the finger required an orthopedic assessment.
Injury to fingers usually lead to trauma to muscle tendons and/ or nerves.
Thus, an orthopedic examination is required to determine whether the tendon is injured or the nerve is injured.
Weakening of grip suggests injury to the tendon or nerve.
The external appearance of the finger does not show any external lesion except for bruising.
Whether plastic surgery is required or not will be decided after orthopedic assessment.
Thanks and take care
