Suggest Treatment For Severe Iron Deficiency Anemia
Iron deficiency anemia
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns
I am sorry to hear that you have iron deficiency anemia. I am glad though ot hear that you are feeling better. You are currently just taking oral iron supplements. I would also recommend taking vitamin C as this will also help absorption of the iron. If your counts are not better then there is two courses of action. One is to determine the cause of your anemia and in most women it is menstrual cycles. If you need to get your cycles better controlled that may need to be done. If it is not female related then there needs to be additional studies to find the source of your bleeding and correct it. Once that is done and still having low counts then you may need iron infusions. These are rarely done as they are painful and expensive.
In summary
1. iron deficiency anemia
2. Increase absorption with vitamin C
3. Find cause of anemia and fix it
4. Iron infusions
