Suggest Treatment For Severe Left Sided Abdominal Pain

default
Posted on Wed, 22 Jul 2015
Question: Hello,

I have been having a pulsing light pain in my left lower abdominal.
The pain is minimal, and off and on- only lasts a minute or so.
I recently had a PAP test- I had no abnormalities.
I am just scared it could be something scary like a sign of Ovarian Cancer.

Please let me know what you think this could be and if it is normal.

Thank-you

Brief Answer:
Consult a gynaecologist and get an ultrasound

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Left sided pain may be due to ovulatory pain, ovarian cyst, ovarian cancer, pelvic inflammatory disease and bowel related. However ovarian carcinoma is rare at this age group and usually doesn't present with pain as first symptoms. To reach a definitive diagnosis you need to get examined by a gynaecologist and get a ultrasound of the pelvis done.

Hope you found the answer helpful. Please do get back for further queries.
Wishing you good health.
Regards,
Dr Deepti Verma.
