Brief Answer:
Keep the leg elevated.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The swelling on the ankle cam be due to excessive weight bearing on the foot. It is best to take rest and keep the leg elevated on two pillows. As soon as the swelling reduces the numbness will improve. In case the cast is too tight and the numbness and swelling are gradually increasing then attend an ER to loosen the cast.
I hope this answers your query.

Brief Answer:
DVT needs to be ruled out.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
If the elevation and rest are not helping and the swelling has appeared in last 2-3 days with an acute pain then deep vein thrombosis needs to be ruled out after a color doppler scan.
Hope my answer is helpful.
