Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In Shoulder Radiating Down To Arm And Back Area
Question: My left shoulder has been diagnosed with "severe degenerative osteoarthritis, rotator cuff tear, and other lesser tearing of ligaments.(?).....I do not want shoulder replacement and am in Physical Rehab to see what can be "rehabbed" to the most functional degree (buying time) because I have a trip abroad scheduled with family in two months..... Problem: in the past four days I have experienced some of the worst pain ever in that shoulder and shooting down my arm and deep inside to the back muscles! I am no wuss but Lodine nor Mobic nor hydrododone (which I take sparingly) barely touch it! It's inflammation but how do I get relief?

Hello
I have read your query.
As you want to post pone joint replacement till time you can take an shoulder intra articular injection.
This will help you in long term pain relief.
You can continue analgesic medication after that.
Continue physiotherapy like ten and matrix therapy.
As you have rotator cuff tear you may need reverse shoulder replacement.
You can take intra articular injection consulting your orthopaedic doctor.
I hope I have answered your questions. If you have further questions please feel free to contact us. I will be happy to answer. Take care.

Guessing the injection you mention is same as "cortisone" or steroid? I've had injections using x-Ray to position exactly on either side of the_____barrier in the shoulder......(about two months ago) followed by two placed for tendinitis...... None brought relief from the 4-7 level pain. Now, with 9.5 level pain (or just shoot me level), wondering if ice or heat is better for reducing inflammation?; and which anti-inflammatories are considered to be best also to reduce this degree of inflammation in at least the bicep tendon and obviously nearby tendons or muscles?
Not wanting at all to be "Yes, but......." Just need additional strategies for healing inflamed areas as quickly as possible.... The pain affects my being able to sleep and my focus as a therapist who continues to work three days a week.... I'll be content with whatever you say! And thanks so much!
