Question: Yesterday I had a tooth extraction. I'm in pain now and a pea sized blood clot as fell from my mouth.

You should take painkillers..

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

As per your complain pain after tooth extraction is a normal finding and therefore painkillers are advised along with antibiotics for pain relief..

If you are given only antibiotics then you should also take painkillers like Ibuprofen after consulting your Dentist or Emergency service..

Also in case if the blood clot has fell from the extraction site then there is a possibility that the extraction socket will remain unhealed leading to Dry Socket..

So in that case you will be given medicated dressings placed in the extraction socket so that it heals..

So in my advise consult your Dentist soon to prevent worsening of pain and prevent Dry Socket formation.

As of now you can take painkillers after consulting an Emergency service as painkillers are prescription medications..
