Suggest Treatment For Severe Pressure In The Ears
ear congestion
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns
I am sorry to hear that you have problems with ear congestion. This can be a very difficult problem to live with and treatment is not usually very effective. YOu have already tried oral allergy medicines with little improvement. You are wondering if nasal sprays may help. I have had limited success with nasal sprays. I would first recommend using an nasal steroid spray like flonase. Use the spray twice daily. It may take up to 2 weeks for it to be effective. The main side effect from nasal steroid sprays is nasal dryness and nasal bleeding. Another option is nasal decongestants like afrin. This usually helps almost immediately but you can only use the spray for 3 days in a row. If you use the nasal decongestant daily you can get addicted to it. Therefore we do not recommend using nasal decongestants long term.
I hope I answered your question. Please contact us again if you have any additional questions
Sinex
Detailed Answer:
The sinex is one of the decongestant nasal sprays that can cause addiction. It will also cause a fast heart rate and elevated blood pressure. It may help temporarily improve the ear congestion. The sinex could improve your congestion rapidly within 30-60 minutes so it is an option for you.
You maybe a candidate for ear tubes but that would have to be done through an ENT specialist. They would have to show fluid or other impairment that would benefit from the tubes. You would probably have x-rays, CT scans and other ear tests before they decide to proceed with surgery.
I hope this helps
