Suggest Treatment For Severe Sore Throat And Fever
Question: Good morning Dr. My 7 yrs old son hs been having fever and throat pain in swallowing anything (even water) since day before yesterday evening. Had fever too. We hv given him 5 doses of Crocin since then. now he hs 100-101 fever.
He had lemon soda and pizza the day before the illness. Immediate reason of the condition could b that. Or other throat infection.
we hv started Azithral XL (200). given 1 dose of 8 ml yesterday with 1 dose of Tixylyx.
pl advise. he hs fever, cough and throat pain still

A single dose of antibiotic Azithral is not going to control the throat infection. He will take at least two more doses to show a response.
Better choice of antibiotic in such cases is amoxycillin with dicloxacillin- Clavam-CV. I suggest the following treatment options currently:
1) For pain relief, anti-inflammatory, fever reducing medications (acetaminophen, ibuprofen) will help him.
2) For sore throat relief he can have salt water gargles (gargle with XXXXXXX warm salt water- one forth teaspoon of salt would be enough in half a cup of water) several times a day, lozenges and warm liquids. Gargling with warm water mixed with dissolvable aspirin can give additional benefits.
3) Avoid Acidic Drinks, Spicy Food and Sour Substances.
4) Consume plenty of water and good fruits and vegetables.
In case the pain in throat persists after two doses then it is best to consult a pediatrician for a throat examination and proper antibiotics.

thanks. we met the pediatrician the day before. she advised 3 days of Azithral, Crocin SoS and XXXXXXX P. but as soon as Crocin effect goes down, fever recurs
