Suggest Treatment For Severe Stomach Cramps In A Child
Question: My 12 year old son has been having stomach cramps for two days, otherwise asymptomatic.
Brief Answer:
Stomach Cramps
Detailed Answer:
Hello. I just read through your question.
There are 2 common diagnoses that could be responsible. The most common is a stomach virus. These can come without vomiting and/or diarrhea and just cause stomach cramping. The other is something we ate. it is possible for us to eat something that doesn't agree with us and cause cramping.
In both cases, the approach is the same. make sure we are getting plenty of fluids so we don't dehydrate, and we can start taking a probiotic. There are many different probiotic brands out there made specifically for the pediatric age range. Taking a probiotic will often speed the healing process.
