Suggest Treatment For Shingles Infection
Question: Hello,
since a couple of weeks I have strong pain at the lower ribs on my right side, no other symptoms. There was no injury or any other incident I am aware of. X-ray and ultrasound showed nothing wrong. Lab was done for liver enzymes (fine) and no inflammation was found (CRP normal), only lymphocytes were significantly too low. Doctor suggested it might be an unusual case of Shingles, because I have no symptoms on my skin but possibly neuritis. Insurance in my country would not pay for Varicella zoster virus (VZV) lab tests, so I had them done privately.
My question: What do the following lab results mean regarding a possible acute case of (atypical) Shingles? Do those results confirm this diagnosis or not?
HIGH: VZV-AK (IgG): >5000 mIU/ml (reference < 80)
HIGH: VZV-AK (IgA): >2.56 index (reference < 0.8)
NORMAL: VZV-AK (IgM): <0.1 index (reference < 0.8)
Thank you!
Kind regards,
XXXX
