Suggest Treatment For Shortness Of Breath And Lightheadedness After Bowel Resection

Question: unplanned bowel resection 5 months ago. basically no regular exercise since. recently developed shortness of breath, lightheadedness, even with mild exercise. had recent ekg, echocardiogram, stress test. all normal. doctor suggest PFT test.

I am sorry to hear that you have been experiencing increasing shortness of breath with mild activity. Since this occured only since your recent surgery i think you have become deconditioned. If there was no prior history of smoking then having a PFT will offer no real data. i recommend you start a slow progressive exercise program for 1-2 months and see if your exercise tolerance improves. If not then you can have PFTs done. Waiting will not impact your outcome.
