Suggest Treatment For Shortness Of Breath And Pin Pricking Sensation In The Chest

default
Posted on Mon, 20 Feb 2017
Question: Of late I've noticed climbing stairs I'm out of breath easily despite my doing plenty of walking as exercise. This evening I noticed what felt like pin pricks in the area of my heart in my chest. Am I in trouble? I took a nitro glyercin tab a couple of hours ago and the pin prick did stop, though it has returned.

Considerations

Detailed Answer:
hello and thank you for sending the question.

I am actually very concerned about the symptoms which you have reported. The fact that you have a change in your exercise capacity as well as these new symptoms of what I would consider atypical chest pain I think you should seek a valuation as soon as possible.

It is possible that there may be some issue going on with your heart. It is very difficult to predict exactly what might be going on but I think a thorough evaluation including a good physical examination, EKG and laboratory studies as well as a possible chest x-ray might do you some information that would help your doctor determine exactly what might be going on so you can obtain treatment.

I would not wait to have this evaluated. If you have a local medical facility I would encourage you to go there as soon as possible to have a medical professional evaluate your current condition.

Thank you again for sending your question.

Sincerely,

Dr. Galamaga
