Suggest Treatment For Shortness Of Breath, Constipation And Fatigue
Question: My dad is 92 years old. He has had a pacemaker for ten years. Recently he's been having shortness of breath, indigestion/constipation issues, fatigue, and earlier last month had some chest pain and faintness/diziness. He breaths heavy (almost like panting but it's breathing) when he exerts himself even in the simplest of jobs or sometimes when climbing stairs. Also his strength and appetite have decreased recently. My sister is a social-therapist and has convinced him that it's just extreme stress and anxiety. He had told me that only half his heart works which is why he has had the pacemaker. Who's right?
Brief Answer:
Pacemaker needs a check
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I am Dr Mittal.
I have read your message.
I think I can help you.
While the symptoms of the query are quite suggestive of a possible anxiety related issues, I am not quite convinced. I would like to get the pacemaker tested.
You see the pacemaker is a battery operated device and the battery lasts between 5 to 10 years. So there us a high probability that the battery has run out and all that you have to do is get it checked and replaced.
I have tried to make it as simple as possible. I hope that the information contained in this message will be able to help you find the best solution for your problem. Best of luck. Dr Mittal.
