Question : I've been on 5 mg of amlodipine for a few months and now my blood pressure is under control (averaging around 104/79). But I've noticed that my resting heart rate, which historically has been quite low (60-72 bpm), has accelerated significantly (80-92 bpm). I don't seem to be suffering any other ill effects, no dizziness or anything (which is odd because one of the reasons I hate being nebulized is that the acceleration of heart rate makes me feel quite ill). Should I be concerned?

Dear Mrs,

Actually there is absolutely nothing to be concerned. The only thing can be done, is to decrease the dose of amlodipin. Your blood pressure is quite low, so there is a room for the dose decrease. Subsequently your blood pressure may rise a little, like around 110-120, and your heart rate may decrease a little.
