Suggest Treatment For Side Effects Of Amtas, Embeda And Petril
I would explain as follows:
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!
I carefully passed through your question and would like to have some more information on your actual therapy:
- Did you start all these drugs at the same time?
- How long have you been experiencing these symptoms?
- Are these symptoms related to any changes to your actual therapy (added medications or increased doses)?
I would like to explain that some of your actual medication could lead to similar adverse effects.
Amtas can lead to abdominal pain and nausea in up to 2-3 % of the patients. It is also known to exacerbate gastro-esophageal reflux.
Embetta is also known to cause heartburn and nausea in 1-2% of the patients.
Monovas it can also cause similar symptoms as adverse effects in 1% of the patients.
Anyway, before concluding that this is an adverse effect related to your actual therapy, further tests are needed to exclude other possible causes of these symptoms:
- an abdominal ultrasound
- a chest X ray study and respiratory function tests to examine your lungs
- a resting ECG
- some blood lab tests (complete blood count, blood electrolytes, kidney and liver function tests, fasting glucose).
A fibrogastroscopy may be needed if suspicions of possible gastro-esophageal reflux are raised.
You should discuss with your doctor on the above issues.
Hope to have been helpful!
Feel free to ask any other questions whenever you need!
Kind regards,
Dr. Iliri
