Suggest Treatment For Side Effects Of Gentamicin Injection
Question: I am 84 yrs old Bladder infection: E-Coli. I am resistant to many antiotibiotics. They gave me GENTAMICIN I.V. Is it very dangerous, one of most toxic? Side effects; I have a very sore left heel now

As an Urologist,i can understand your concern.
You don't need to be that anxious about the Gentamycin injection.
Anyway you've stopped it,that's a good thing.
You should test your blood for creatinine and RBS.
If it's normal,you can consult your doctor,if you can switch to Amikacin.
That's has less toxic than Gentamycin.
You may even be able to switch to an oral drug shown in the report.
If you send your culture report,i can advise you about that.
Drink about ten glasses fluids daily.
