Suggest Treatment For Side Effects Of Sertraline

Question: hi i have taken sartaline 50mg antidepression tablet about 8 9 hours ago. after 3 4 hours i felt suddenly hot and felt hot pin,s and needles from stomach to till bowls in middle of my legs. after that i feel little bit ok. but now my body is shaking heavy head and insomnia. in this situation what shall i do to make myself better. plz advice me this is 3

I appreciate your concern

Sertaline is an SSRI drug. As an antidepressant sertraline is so potent at stimulating the brain that it can cause anxiety with initial use.

Two precautions that help in this regarding SSRI initiation.

1) Starting at a lower dose. 25 mg would be a better alternative.

2) Using a benzodiazepine like alprazolam for the initial 10 days of treatment with sertraline. Once you get used to it you may taper the alprazolam and stop it. Sertraline would continue.

For the body shaking and head heaviness, you should get your BP , pulse and temperature checked and recorded. Your doctor will most likely prescribe benzodiazepines to cool down these initial bothersome side effects.
