default
Posted on Tue, 10 Jan 2017
Question: I had hospital induced MRSA Aug. 2016 and was give high does of Zyvox and I am after 3 months still experiencing major side effects. When will they go away? The side effects were awful. The teeth discoloration also included some teeth to chip away to the root line. So what else is permanent?( Vaginal bleeding in a 60 yr. old, red spots on my face, bruises, hair thinning, insomnia, yeast infection, hypertension, insomnia, and my personal favorite-incontence.) Are these permanent?

Brief Answer:
May or may not be related to zyvox...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I went through the list of symptoms. They may or may not be related to zyvox.
At the outset long side effects such as these are uncommon with short course of zyvox. Assuming you received zyvox for more than couple of weeks, there are possibilities that blood counts especially platelets are altered and neurologically you might have some disturbances. Some of your symptoms are explained by these changes. You should contact your healthcare provider and discuss about it. A few blood test - blood counts and biochemical work up will help us identify if you have those disturbances. In addition, thyroid profile needs to be done plus a dentist evaluation.

In the meantime, I would treat you with specific treatment:
1. Antihypertensive drugs for high blood pressure
2. Antifungal for yeast infections
3. Vitamin supplements for hair thinning.

At this point without the necessary evaluation, it is hard to predict whether you will be permanently affected or they can be reversed. I feel we can have the answers after you are evaluated.

Hope this answers your question. Let me know if you need clarifications.

Regards
