Question: Hey, i have had issues with sinusitis. I get sudden inflammation sometimes even before i exhibit cold like symptoms. I am on Rhinexin and apocillin from my doctors but i still get headache attacks that can last evn 5 hours. I am also using Paralgin Forte as painkillers but i still can feel the pain. I don't know what else to do. I am scared that it could be something else. What would you recommend?

Brief Answer:
sinusitis secondary to allergy.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I have gone through your question and understand your concerns that you are having sinus issues. I would like to ask you few more details.

Is there any sequence of sneezes or running nose or (allergy) ?
Is your head-ache associated with post nasal drip (sinus secretions trickling behind the throat) ?

As per your clinical details, it appears to be sinusitis secondary to allergy.

Continue paralgin forte (acetominophen +codeine) twice daily for pain, phenylpropanolamine (rhinxin) nasal decongestant, apocillin (antibiotic) as per your doctor. Do steam inhalation twice daily and add anti allergic prophylactic medication like tab.lukotas-lc (montelukast +citrizine) one tab at bed time.

In case of persistence, you need to evaluate with the investigations (absolute eosinophilic count, IgE) and ent consultation to rule out other causes.

Hope this answers your question, if you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.

Thank you Dr Abubakar. Yes i can feel sinus secretions behind my throat, and i am not sneezing frequently, just a bit. I haven't sneezed all morning today, just a constant headache and i feel blocked in the nose and throat.
