Brief Answer:
due to inflammatory response

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The discoloration is part of the inflammatory response that occurs in response to any type of injury to the skin and underlying tissues.

It will resolve in time but it can take weeks to months to do so. In many cases, it may not completely return to normal but should be a close approximation to it.

The use of a mild steroid cream such as hydrocortisone may help to speed up the process. This is available over the counter. Only a very small amount should be used and for a 1 week to 2 week period.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
