Suggest Treatment For Sleep Deprivation While Suffering From Bipolar Disorder And Plantar Fasciitis

Question: I have a sleep disorder and am being counseled by a sleep doctor. I am bi-polar which has been controlled by meds for 20 years,so have a racing mind. The meds are very effective for bi-polar, not at all effective for sleep. My doctor says I have failed the pharmacological remedy and has placed me on sleep schedule. It mimics my natural sleep cycle, except I usually get up much later. and am thus becoming more sleep deprived, which is finding the baseline determining how much sleep I actually need. I'm to retire at 3:00 am., rise at 9:00. I have done this for 10 days and now may move the bedtime to 2:30 am. Today, I found it impossible to stay awake consistently and fear that I won't sleep when I hit the bed tonight. My question is: have I become a night person and sleep better during the day or will this method actually get me to be able to function during the day? The second part of my question is related to my feet. I recently have developed tendinopathy and plantar fasciitis. My feet are extremely painful in the morning, but feel much better at night. With my sleep disorder, I am awake when my feet are most sensative, asleep when the pain resides. Are these disorders related? Can my foot problems be cured? Thanks for any help.

Both conditions, bipolar disorder and pain in legs can contribute significantly in your sleep issues.

Treating correctly these two conditions should result in sleep issues improvement too, so, this should be the main treatment aim.

Plantar fasciitis is treated by NSAID drugs use, ( ibuprofen, naproxen ), physical therapy and night splints.

If you feel scheduling your sleep doesn't help you, probably you are turning in a night person.

If you feel refreshed after sleeping this way, scheduling is working.

Hello again.

You probably became a night person and sleep better during the day, sleep schedule is designed to fight insomnia and to give you sufficient hours of sleep in order for you to function better when you are awake.

It is hard for some people to stick to the schedule in the beginning, but you should should stick to your schedule no matter what, in order to fight insomnia.

Tendinopathy and plantar fasciitis may be treated with physical therapy, NSAID drugs use, eccentric exercises, steroid injections, ultrasound therapy, etc.
