Question: I forgot my tampon in for approximately 5 days, I developed a diarreha during the time I didn't know about the tampon, but it stopped before I found out about the tampon. I have no fever, slight pain in the abdomen. Do I need to go to the Hospital as this may be TSS?

Brief Answer:
its better to get evaluated at the hospital

Detailed Answer:
hello.
thanks for contacting health care magic.

well going through your history of having forgotten tampon for 5 days and having developed diarrhoea which has stopped now but you have slight lower abdominal pain but no fever yet, i feel it would be wise to report to the hospital and get yourself evaluated for TSS.
TSS usually presents with sudden onset fever, nausea and vomiting, diarrhoea, muscles aches, lower abdominal pain , confusion, low blood pressure and streptococcal rash on skin. however you have no such symptoms and most importantly no fever yet, or any foul smelling vaginal discharge, i hope, the likely hood of TSS is unlikely. Reason is because its progress is rampant and very fast.

But its a horrid disease and progresses real fast and most common reason being retained forgotten tampons, i suggest you get yourself examined at the hospital .
There's no one test for toxic shock syndrome. You may need to provide blood and urine samples to test for the presence of a staph or strep infection. Your vagina, cervix and throat may be swabbed for samples for laboratory analysis.

the symptom of lower abdominal pain persistent does warrant a thorough examination, so its better you report to ER.its better to rule out rather than dwell in dilemma.
