Suggest Treatment For Sore Bump On Head After Injury

Question: I hit my head really hard on the corner of my mantel while decorating my Christmas tree. I was bent over n came up and didn't realize I was right underneath it. I have really sore bump that has come up that's about 1 1/2 in diameter and it's been about two hours ago and it is still really throbbing. The hit was on top of my head. I saw stars for just a few seconds after it happened, but I don't have any other symptoms other than the swelling and throbbing. I live almost an hour away from a hospital and I don't have good insurance. I currently am taking some natural products that have blood thinning properties and I noticed earlier today when I checked my blood sugar (non-insulin diabetic) that my blood looked really thin. Should I be concerned about internal bleeding or swelling? What other advice would you give?

Brief Answer:
Probably only concussion.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns. Brain swelling is the least possibility that could happen in this situation. If you didn't lose consciousness and you don't feel nausea, then I think you have nothing to worry about.

You should be aware in the next hours ( about 6 hours after head injury) if you feel some of these symptoms: any limb weakness, excessive vomiting, difficulty speaking or interacting with others. If you notice any of these symptoms, you need to present in ER (Emergency room) and discuss your concerns. You could use OTC drugs ( Paracetamol) to ease head pain. About blood thinners, natural products have weak thinning properties, but in rare cases Chronic Subdural Hematoma could develop in next days and weeks.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
