Suggest Treatment For Sore Neck

default
Posted on Thu, 30 Jun 2016
Question: I woke up with a sore neck this morning but it went away during the day. It came back at night and it feels very tender where the head and neck meet, mainly the right side. The pain is radiating up the back of my head now. I have no fever or other symptoms besides a cold/potential sinus infection I am recovering from. Could this be a serious symptom? It feels very tender to touch.

Brief Answer:
Probably muscles related.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

It is too early to say if there is any serious condition or not.

It is very unlikely for those symptoms to be related to sinusitis, but viral infections may cause muscles soreness too.

In my opinion, muscular problems such strained muscles due to bad sleeping position may be the culprit.

Warm procedures on neck should be tried to relieve your symptoms.

Soft cervical spine collar also may be of help, when you stand or walk.

Muscle relaxer drugs such Tiocolchicoside (Muscoril 2x 4 mg/ day for few days) may be used also.

If the symptoms will persist for more than a week, an evaluation by your primary care Doctor is necessary.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Greetings.
