Question : Hi my girlfriend tried a cigar for the first time and didn't like it not a few hours later she's saying your throat is really sore and feels sick she has been drinking but not much alcohol and ideas can you help ?

Hi,

Thanks for your query.

Your friend would be having throat irritation because of allergic reaction to tobacco smoke.

If I were your treating doctor, I would have prescribed decongestant tablet twice daily for 3 days. Avoid smoking.

Steam inhalation and hot saline gargle daily for 4 to 5 times will help.

Thanks Doctor my Partner just had a Strepsils for your Sore throat and blocked nose it's a double antibacterial action

They contain Dichlorobenzyl 1.2mg and amylmetscresol 600 ug and menthol 8 mg would that help as she said it's helping a bit

Would you suggest something else ? As it's 1:49am nothing is open besides the hospital here :)

Hi, thanks for your follow up query. Strepcils are good enough. Do hot saline gargle and take steam inhalation.
Decongestant tablet would help. You can rake it in the morning.
Do not worry, it will settle down gradually.
