Suggest Treatment For Constant Irritation In Throat
My mother is suffering from constant irritation in the throat, because of which she is constantly having to clear her throat (sometimes by coughing). Due to constant clearing of throat, she is getting pain in the front and sides of her ribcage. Please advise on how to cure her throat irritation.
The probable diagnosis is irritation in throat may be due to allergy of some sort or granular pharyngitis with edema and redness. This causes the feeling of something in throat and the patient tries to clear the throat. This unnecessary force causes more edema, inflammation and feeling of something increases wherein the patient tried with more force, so much so that the muscles attached to neck, back and chest go into spasm causing the pain.
Take Ibuprofen as anti-inflammatory. Take Levocetirizine for irritation. Consult a Doctor for clinical evaluation, examination and necessary investigations. All these together will give a proper diagnosis and thus allow a definitive management.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
