Question: I went to the lake 5 days ago. I was rafting behind a boat. I got a bunch of water up my nose. I am worried about brain eating amoeba. I got a headache a couple of days ago. Today i git a sore throat. I do have PTSD and anxiety. So when I start to worry it can get exacerbated. I am concerned. Should I be worried?

Brief Answer:
There is no need to worry.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for posting your query.

I am Dr Sudhir Kumar, Neurologist, and I would try my best to help you.

I have noted your clinical details. Based on this, there is no need to worry about amoeba causing encephalitis (brain fever). The symptoms of encephalitis would be much severe headache, fits, and worsening consciousness level. Your symptoms are more suggestive of sinusitis.

I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,
