Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat And Lump On The Jaws

default
Posted on Mon, 1 Jun 2015
Question: I found a hard lump that is a little jumpy on the right side of my jaw about and inch down my right ear. I know right now I have a sore throat and post nasal drip. I also have a tmj problem on that same side that hurts and gives me headaches. It cracks and pops on that side also. I'm wondering if even that can be the cause of my tmj problem?? I grind my teeth very hard at night. I also notice my face droops lower on the right side, not extremely but if you pay close attention to it you can see it. Also my shoulder and hip on the right is lower than the left side. I just find it a strange coincidence that everything on the right side is affected? Please give me a good opinion for this. Thank you for taking the time.

Brief Answer:
It could be Parotid enlargement.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Swelling below Right ear could be an enlarged Parotid gland. But, the exact diagnosis will be confirmed by FNAC ( Fine Needle aspiration Cytology ) of the swelling.
Another possibility could be enlarged lymphnode. It is due to infection in the Oral cavity.
Pain in the Temporomandibular joint could be due to this.
Length of one limb will be higher than than the other sometimes. It could be natural. Affection of one side is a coincidence in your case. Medically, there is no relation.
Please consult a Surgeon, get an FNAC of the swelling and proceed accordingly.

Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards
