Question: Hello, I just turned 41 yesterday and for three months now my breasts are enlarged and sore for 2-3 weeks at a time. I'm not pregnant. I've researched premenopausal symptoms and didn't see this as a symptom. I have fibriorouis breast tissue also. But they are so sore it hurts.

Brief Answer:
Breasts ultrasound should be done at first.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

This is not a premenopausal symptom indeed. Painful and enlarged breasts can appear due to hormonal issues, benign breasts lesions (like cysts) or in some cases breast cancer.
As there are few possibilities, I would strongly recommend you to consult gynecologist. Breast ultrasound and armpits ultrasound should be done at first. Mammography should be considered. Hormones levels should be also checked.

Please do not wait with it.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
