Breast Ultrasound Showed Focal Cystic Or Solid Mass Lesions In Glandular Tissue. Meaning?
I went for a breast ultrasound yesterday. The findings are:
"No signs suggestive of any focal systic or solid mass lesions in the glandular tissue. The glandular pattern is non-homogenous and suggestive of bilateral fibroadenosis. This study does not exclude malignancy."
What does this mean, and should I be worried or go for further testing?
From your query, i understood that you are worried about a lump in breast.
Most probably it could be a benign condition.
Because there is no microcalcifications, spiculated margins hypoechoic masses.
Even there is no cystic or solid mass lesion. It is just a fibroadenosis. It is due to the hormonal changes in every menstrual cycle.
There is no increased risk of cancer with fibroadenosis. But fibradenosis with atypical ductal or lobular hyperplasia have significant risk of turn to cancer
Thus you need FNAC of the lump in breast to confirm it as a benign.
Hope this helps. If any doubt, kindly reply. Take care.
Hi!thanks for your query!bilateral fibroadenosis is usually due to hormonal changes and may be associated with pain in breast before the menstrual periods.FNAC is advisable to rule out Atypical ductal or lobular hyperplasia.Iwould like to know your age and whether this ultrasound was a routine test or because you faced any symptoms.Take care!
