Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for using HCM.
I have read your question and understand your concerns.
Spinal stenosis, or narrowing of spinal vertebral canal with or without spine or nerve compression happens for several reasons and these include aging spine, degenative disc and vertebral column disease, herniated disc disease, trauma.
If not treated correctly, one can expect from this diagnosis, gradual worsening of symptoms and everyday functions impairment ( worsening pain, legs and arms weakness and numbness, shorter walking distances).
Treatment is guided by a correct diagnosis, wich is evaluated by neurological examination correlated to imaging studies (spinal MRI).
If no or mild neurological findings (mild pain and numbness, no restrictions on everyday activities), treatment consists on NSAID drugs and physical therapy together with periodic follow up.
If moderate to severe neurological findings ( spasticity eg.) and significant compression on MRI, surgical decompression needed.
Hope this answers your question.
