Suggest Treatment For Spots On Face In An Infant

Question: Dear Doctor,

This is in regard of my new born daughter (one month old).

Off late we have seen some spots on her face (see attached pics for your reference). Just to add that we have not given here anything apart from mother's milk.

Please can you guide us if anything is serious.

Hi... I understand your concern. I have seen the images. This is eczema... A type of allergy.

The trick of the management is keeping the skin moist and never allowing it to be dry. For this oil massage and lotions like Oilatum will help.

Regarding cure options - eczema is a sort of allergy...allergies can be controlled. But usually kids grow out of it...that is as the age progresses, they become better starting from 6 months.

thanks doctor. I am surprised that eczema happens to such small babies. We arecurrently using Figaro oil and XXXXXXX baby lotion. Is there any other thing which we should give to the baby?

hello doctor, one more question that the vaccine which need to be given at 6 week age are singlr dose or multiple dose. I mean that it is a single vaccine (a mix of five vaccines) or we have to give five different vaccines of DTwP1/DTaP1, IPV1, HepB2, Hib1, rotavirus1.

plz can you confirm the same.

Hi...DPT, hepatitis B and Hib vaccines will come as a single shot pentavalent vaccine.

Rota virus vaccine is oral and separate

IPV and PCV are separate.
