Is DPT Vaccine Safe For Kids? What Is The Difference Between DPT And DTaP Vaccination?
We've gone through Vitamin K soon after birth, and BCG vaccine given on the day 15th to our baby boy. He is now 43 days old and scheduled for DPT vaccine. Since I've seen so many statements regarding the SIDs after this vaccination, is this DPT vaccine a safe one to my boy or not? Nevertheless, can I reschedule this DPT vaccination after 45 days? what is the difference between DPT and DTaP vaccines, and which one is better for my son and why? What safety measures should I to take into account before vaccination?
Hi
Thanks for your query.
Vaccinations are totally safe and are given for betterment of child.
They should be given in time for their maximum effect.
Regarding DPT there are two types of vaccines one is whole cell which causes some pain and fever and another is acellular which is painless vaccine,
Efficacy is same in both the vaccines.
No precautions are required before any vaccination.
Only if child is sick or is having high grade fever we delay vaccination till child gets better.
Modern vaccines are safe...
Far far safer than the disease, which they prevent!
It is better to stick to schedule - unless there are compelling contraindications like infection...
"a" denotes acellular - there may practically be no adverse reaction...
Discuss with your doctor...
Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
