Suggest Treatment For Squint Eye In An Infant

Question: hello doctor, its about my 7 month old baby boy. His eyes are not aligned properly. One of his eye is not in sync with other.The difference is slight but it is bothering us, we fear he will have cross eye when he will grow up. Kindly guide us about the same, what treatment he should go through. please refer the pic I have attached

I am Dr. Dadapeer an ophthalmologist and I will be answering your question.

I reviewed your history and the photo attached with the question.

The photo shows deviation of right eye. This condition is called as squint.
Squint is a common condition seen in children but it requires evaluation and treatment for proper development of the eye.

There are many causes for this problem. The commonest cause is called as accommodative squint. This can be diagnosed by vision and refraction testing and this is treated by refraction and correction.

Some other types of squints require surgery.

First step to be done is confirmation of diagnosis of squint.
The second step is evaluation to find out the cause and treatment.

Hence I advice you to consult pediatric ophthalmologist for further evaluation and treatment accordingly.
