Brief Answer:
Can be gastroenteritis or food poisoning.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HCM.

I have gone through your query. Your husband's problem can be due to gastroenteritis or food poisoning. Did he eat anything from outside or had any foods like meat or egg in recent 48 hours?

Taking fluids and electrolytes according to loss is the proper treatment for this. Usually it can last for 3 to 5 days. ORS , tender coconut will be helpful.

If nausea and vomiting is more then you may need to take anti emetic like ondansetron and proton pump inhibitors like omeprazole.

If diarrhea is excess, loperamide will be helpful also. In case of severe dehydration you should approach your doctor for giving intravenous fluids.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
