Suggest Treatment For Sudden Lapses Of Consciousness
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Might be an absence seizure or due to stress related anxiety
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX XXXXXX
Thanks for writing in to us.
I have read through your query in details.
It might be possible that you are experiencing absence seizures. Absence seizures involve brief, sudden lapses of consciousness. This makes one look like he or she is staring into space for a few seconds. It can appear something like a lapse in attention that lasts 10 to 15 seconds, without any subsequent confusion, headache or drowsiness.
Since you have a history of seizure two years back as mentioned in your medical history, this can be a new type of seizure activity. Also you are not on any kind of anti seizure medications as written above.
It is suggested that you attend an epilepsy clinic and consult a neurologist or psychiatrist for complete seizure evaluation. Please inform them of your old history of seizure in the past. If not an absence seizure, it can be a symptom of anxiety related stress and needs to be discussed with a psychiatrist. They will perform investigations like electroencephalography, CT or MRI scans of brain and certain psychological tests.
Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.
Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.
Regards,
Dr.Vivek
