Question: I was feeling fine, I was on a train and I suddenly had tightness on my throat,my right ear, across my chest. Felt anxious , started to see stars and my eyesight was fading in and out. I tried calming myself down and took a Benadryl . My stop arrive and I got off the train, felt better just weak. This happened once before on the train, a year ago. I ride a train 2x a day for 2hrs each way- so this is unusual . I recently had stress test , and full cardiac work up a month ago - everything was normal. Is this motion sickness ? I was traveling by plane yesterday

Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

I carefully passed through your question and would explain that your symptoms are not cardiac related. Your cardiac performed tests which have resulted normal, are another argument in favor of this fact.

A panic attack seems to have caused all this clinical scenario.

I understand that travelling by train is a routine activity for you, but something seems to have triggered a panic attack, maybe an ectopic heart beat (which is quite normal in a healthy heart).

From the other hand, I would recommend consulting with an ENT specialist and performing labyrinthine tests, to rule in/out an inner ear disorder. You should know that body movements (even travelling) can trigger an inner ear disorder. Benadryl can help in this situation, and it may have played an important role in the improvement of your symptoms.

Hope to have been helpful!

Kind regards,

Thank you, I've had panic attacks in the past , I have medicine I will carry with me again . And I will see an ENT, I just had a sinus infection and flying might have triggered fluid in my ear.
