Suggest Treatment For Supraventricular Tachycardia
Question: Hi I get supraventricular tachycardia and am awaiting ablation. I've just come out of hospital and when I was in they took my bloods, my first troponin levels were 63 and after they repeated the bloods it was 173 nothing happened in between these tests I was only resting. So my question is, is a troponin level of 173 high and how high? And is this most likely to be related to my SVT. Just I've been given two opinions from the doctors, the first was worried I had a heart attack and then the cardiologist said I was too young to have a heart attack and it was most likely just SVT and he wasn't concerned so discharged me. So is a level of 173 more likely to be a heart attack or simply my SVT?

It would have been more nice if you had mentioned the unit for these levels as results are normally interpreted in ng/L.
Diagnosis of myocardial infarction depends upon 2 out of 3 criteria.
1.ECG changes coherent with Myocardial infarction
2.Raised cardiac enzymes like troponin I, T and Creatinine kinase
3.History of typical chest pain.
In your case only 1 was positive. In abscence of such history which can make your cardiologist suspicious of Myocardial infarction, it is likely that it wasn't the case
Yes, it can raise in any kind of heart muscle strain like in your case it was SVT. So it rise can be explained by that.
The drugs you have been put, are fairly good and you can have him continued till ablation.
