Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Bleeding From Soft Tissue Damage
Question: My 6 month old has had a goose egg on her temple for 3 months. It's still soft and the bruising is finally going away. How long before it goes away completely?
Brief Answer:
I would request for a photograph and some more information
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
Before I am able to answer your question, I would require the following information:
1. Whether your child suffered from any injury. If so, how long back was that? Any other associated symptoms?
2. Could you please upload a photograph of the same?
Typically a goose egg is a swelling caused due to some sort of injury and subsides over a week to few weeks. But 3 month is a long time and it also indicates the onset at 3 months of age. You have already talked to your doctor. Let me see if I am able to help you out.
I will wait for your response.

it happened when she was fussing and hit her head in my shoulder while I was holding her. she was already crying but never showed any changes in diet or activity.
Brief Answer:
Seen the images, nothing alarming, Will heal up with time
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back.
I have gone through the images and have noticed the swelling that you are talking about. Since the child is otherwise active and fine, I do not think you need to do anything about it.
I understand that the swelling is persisting. There had been some soft tissue damage along with localized bleeding and it is taking time to get resorbed. But you need not worry.
It is hard to comment on how long it is take to heal up, but I can assure you that eventually it will go away completely.
